Kayaye (Kayayo) is the local name for head potters and truck pushers.I limited myself to girls because that's what I find most prevalent in my communities.

I believe these girls are people like me unfortunately born into that situation needing help but being overlooked.When you get to interview some of them you will realise they crave for better means of livelihood and to have a good family than this. I was inspired by one of these stories, and I felt the need to reach out to people through Poetry,to educate and solicit help on their behalf.

Most of these girls hail from the North. They come to the South basically to escape some inhumane practices they would have fallen victims to. Also,poverty happens to be one major cause for their migration to the South.But since the system doesn't consider them,there is nothing they can rely on to feed themselves when they get to these areas. Hence they resort to Kayaye as the only choice they have and as the only thing they are qualified for. They give birth and the cycle continues.

To prevent Kayaye,we need to expand the job market both at the North and South while eradicating inhumane cultural practices of which  Government will play a major role. We as individuals can also contribute our quota to help by sponsoring their education and also helping them acquire some basic skills to start their own business. It could be in the form of Tailoring,hair dressing,basketry etc. Of course ,the buck stops with the government but we also need to help them and respect their rights as well. via #iRedEntertainment
