Joey B on BBC 1xtra with Dj Edu
Ghanaian Rapper Joey B made a stop at BBC 1Xtra studios with #AfroBoss, DJ Edu, host of 1Xtra’s Destination Africa show on Sunday 25th September to talk much about his music, influences and more.
With You X Me being his biggest song yet (arguably), the rapper hinted he co- directed the music video and emphasized he chose to keep it simple so people could really feel the emotions in the song.
He added that the terrain in Ghana when it comes to music has indeed changed with lots of artistes shifting into Afro-beats,but Hip Hop still lives with the likes of Sarkodie, Jayso, Medikal, Kwaw Kese, EL and himself making that possible.
On sarkodie, Joey spoke highly of the BET Award-winner tagging him as one of the biggest to emerge from the continent.
“Sark is a king in his own world, I wish BBC had an ‘A’ so I could put on the ‘A’ list. Much respect to Sarkodie”
It is quite obvious that Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana have been rated as countries that are musically active, but according Joey Ghanaians don’t invest much into the arts industry, especially music unlike it’s been done elsewhere. He urged other private bodies and individuals to inculcate the habit of investing in music in the country.
